GENTLE BENNY: traditional tattoo artist

 


I started getting large scale tattoo work done in 2004 at the age of 22. Within 5 months I had both of my arms fully covered. I got my first job in the tattoo industry the following year, at Leviticus Tattoo, in Minneapolis Minnesota and never looked back. 


My first five years in a tattoo shop I worked my way up from the bottom scrubbing toilets and taking out the trash. I spent every waking moment learning everything I could about tattooing and piercing. Any time I wasn’t working at the shop was spent in the chair, under the needle, where I got about 80% of my body tattooed rom the top of my head to the tops of my feet.


In 2010 I opened my own studio, Mutiny Tattoo & Piercing, with the goal of being able to travel and work. I spent most of 2013-2015 doing just that - spending the majority of that time between Atomic Lotus Tattoo in Oklahoma City and Deep Roots Tattoo in Seattle.


I love to paint flash and tattoo any traditional images. Anything from simple letters and roses, to koi fish with cherry blossoms, to bold tribal patterns. Simply put, I really like anything that makes a bold and striking tattoo.
